About Top Remote Work

Independent reviews and comparisons of remote work platforms for freelancers and expert contributors — fees, payouts, screening, and fit.

What we publish

In-depth platform reviews, side-by-side comparisons, and practical guidance for freelancers and expert contributors choosing where to spend their time — marketplaces, managed expert pipelines, and AI-training work platforms.

Editorial independence

Reviews are written for readers, not for platforms. We cite official documentation for factual claims, clearly date time-sensitive terms like pay rates and platform policies, and state clearly who each platform fits and who should look elsewhere. Affiliate relationships do not change our ratings or verdicts.

How we review platforms

We evaluate fees and take-home economics, payout timing, screening burden, work structure, ongoing job volume, policy transparency, and continuity risk. Star ratings use a weighted model across seven categories — see our methodology for the full breakdown.

Who runs this site

Top Remote Work is built and maintained by Andrew (@andrewnx on GitHub), an independent software developer analyzing freelance marketplaces, managed expert pipelines, and AI evaluation fellowships.

Every review and comparison is grounded in primary provider documentation, fee schedules, contractor agreements, and verified onboarding terms.
